10. Modern Sayings found in the old 1611 King James Bible?

The 400 year old 1611 AD version of the King James Bible has been a best seller for most if not all of its existence. Our forefathers used it as a school book in the early history of our country, and even the first reading books, such as the McGuffey Reader, used Bible verses and stories from the KJV to teach reading skills. Today, people are less and less familiar with the Bible and may even consider it an old irrelevant book, but, we as Christians believe that it is "alive and powerful" (Heb 4:12), and the very Living Word of God.

Jesus said the Scriptures cannot be broken. (John 10:35) Jesus quoted the O.T. Scriptures 55 times. Jesus said search the Scriptures, Moses wrote about me! (John 5:39 & 46). Not once do we find where Jesus criticized or corrected the Old Testament Scriptures. When Jesus was tempted by Satan, He quoted an Old Testament Bible verse to deflect each temptation. The history of the Jewish people in the Old Testament portrays them as disobedient and under the discipline of God for most of their history, BUT they preserved the O.T. Scriptures, if necessary with their own life! Normally the history of a people not only changes with time, but most of the unflattering historical events never become a public part of their history. The Jewish people preserved the Scriptures because they personally knew God!

The words and phrases of this "old book" are woven through the fabric of our lives and our Country. The laws of our land are based on it. Many scientific laws and medical principals were stated in it long before they were "recently discovered".
